Walkeazy Privacy Policy

Walkeazy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Walkeazy mobile application and related services.

By using Walkeazy, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

a) Personal Information

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Account login credentials

b) Location Data

Walkeazy collects real-time GPS location data while the app is in use.

  • Location data is only shared with a monitor during an active monitoring session
  • Location tracking may occur in the background while the app is open

c) Audio and Video Data

During an active monitoring session, Walkeazy facilitates the transmission of real-time audio and video between the user and the assigned monitor. Monitors may access:

• Real-time audio communications
• Real-time video streams

Recording and Temporary Buffering Policy

To support safety and incident reporting features, Walkeazy temporarily stores audio and video data in rolling 90-second segments during active monitoring sessions.

• These temporary segments are automatically and continuously overwritten during the session.
• If no incident is reported, the temporary audio and video segments are automatically deleted and are not retained after the monitoring session ends.
• Temporary buffered data is not accessible to monitors, users, or administrators unless an incident is reported.

Incident Recording

If an incident occurs and the monitor activates the Incident Snapshot feature:

• The most recent buffered audio and video data (up to approximately 90 seconds immediately preceding activation) may be preserved.
• Audio and video recording will continue for the remainder of the monitoring session.
• Preserved recordings may include audio, video, location information, timestamps, and other relevant session data.

Retention of Incident Recordings

• Incident recordings are retained for up to 30 days from the date of the session.
• Access to incident recordings is restricted to authorized Walkeazy administrators and personnel with a legitimate business, safety, legal, or compliance need to review the recording.
• Incident recordings may be used for incident investigation, evidence preservation, responding to legal requests, insurance matters, or improving platform safety.
• After the retention period expires, incident recordings are permanently deleted unless a longer retention period is required by law or reasonably necessary in connection with an ongoing investigation, legal proceeding, insurance claim, or law enforcement request.

d) Usage and Device Information

  • IP address
  • Device type and operating system
  • App usage data

Collected via tools such as:

  • Google Analytics
  • New Relic

e) Payment Information

All payments are processed through Stripe.

  • Walkeazy does not store or process billing details such as credit card numbers
  • Payment data is handled in accordance with Stripe’s privacy policies

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide real-time safety monitoring services
  • Connect users with independent monitors
  • Enable live audio, video, and location sharing during sessions
  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Improve app performance and user experience
  • Monitor system performance and detect errors

3. Sharing of Information

We may share your information with:

a) Monitors

  • Independent, vetted contractors who provide live monitoring services
  • During a session, monitors may access:
    • Your live location
    • Live audio and video

b) Service Providers

Including:

  • Stripe (payments)
  • Supabase (data storage)
  • Clerk (user authentication)
  • Google Analytics (analytics)
  • New Relic (performance monitoring)

c) Emergency Situations

In the event of an emergency:

  • Monitors may contact:
    • Emergency services (e.g., police, ambulance)
    • Your designated emergency contacts

Relevant information may be shared to help protect your safety.

d) Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or to comply with legal processes.

4. Consent

By using Walkeazy, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described.

Additional Consent for Monitoring Sessions:

By starting a live monitoring session, you explicitly consent to:

  • Sharing your real-time location
  • Streaming live audio and video to a monitor
  • Potential recording of the session if the emergency feature is activated

5. Data Retention

  • Emergency recordings are stored for up to 30 days, then deleted
  • Non-emergency sessions are not recorded or stored
  • Account data is retained as long as your account is active

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including:

  • Secure data storage via Supabase
  • Authentication systems via Clerk
  • Encryption and access controls

However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

7. Your Rights

Under applicable privacy laws, including PIPEDA, you may:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request corrections
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Withdraw consent (subject to service limitations)

8. Children and Minors

  • Walkeazy is available to users aged 13 and older
  • Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent

9. Data Storage Location

Your data is stored in Canada using services such as:

  • Supabase
  • Clerk

Walkeazy uses third-party services that have their own privacy policies, including:

  • Stripe
  • Google Analytics
  • New Relic

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted within the app and/or on our website.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you must not use the Walkeazy application or services. By accessing or using Walkeazy, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Privacy Policy.
